Kerrville is home to almost all of the fast food chain restaurants for burgers, pizza, chicken and Mexican food but they all also have same excellent home grown restaurants.
Grape Juice is one of my favorites. It is downtown and has a huge selection of wine and beer on tap. Their menu is always changing but everything I have ever tried their has been excellent. It is definitely the happening place in Kerrville. They even make brussel sprouts taste great. I also like their Goat chili.
Rails is another favorite of mine. It is on Schreiner St. in the remodeled Kerrville Train Station. The renovation was done by Mark and Linda Stone who have done the same thing with many other historic homes in Kerrville. Their menu is also quite diverse with both hearty and light fare. I usually get the Axis burger with kettle chips but they also have some delicious salads.
Their are a lot of Asian Restaurants but these are my favorites.
Soaring Dragon is my number one for Chinese/Vietnamese food. They also have daily early bird specials. My favorite is the V5. Grilled pork over rice noodles and vegetables covered in a yummy fish sauce.
Thai Ocha is downtown overlooking the Guadalupe River and as would be expected they serve Thai food. My favorites are any of their curry dishes and their shrimp fried rice.
Sakes is another must if you come to Kerrville. I usually get the Deluxe Bento Box. It includes perfectly done tempura shrimp and vegetables, grilled chicken in a delicious sauce, soup. salad and fried rice.
Their are numerous Mexican Restaurants but the go to in Kerrville is Mamacita's. It is a beautiful restaurant and very large. It delivers a consistent product and consistent good service. Also with every meal you get endless chips and salsa. The owner Hagi first came to Kerrville as a student at Schreiner College. As the story goes he started out as a busboy at another Mexican Restaurant "Acapulco". He later got some investors and started Mamacita's which now has restaurants all over the San Antonio, Austin, Hill County area.
Their plenty of other places in Kerr County but these are some of my favorites.
